Savegre Whitewater Rafting
A journey of unsurpassed beauty, jungle vegetation and exploding whitewater.
For the adventuresome beginner and experienced rafter the Class II and III rapids will have you filled with adrenaline as you paddle hard over the waves.
Along the way you will be astounded by the awesome canyons, waterfalls, and primary rainforest of Costa Rica.
The Savegre River is a magnificent stretch of whitewater that begins its course by winding out of a sparsely inhabited valley in the mountains.
Named one of the most pristine rivers in Central America, the Savegre River is full of incredible scenery at every turn.
One of the highlights of this trip is the midway stop at a waterfall tucked into the jungle close to the river edge, here you will get to swim under a waterfall and enjoy a delicious snack before embarking on the remainder of your rafting excursion with Amigos del Rio.
We are able to run this river year-round making it an excellent option no matter when you choose to visit beautiful Costa Rica!

Tour Reviews
We have never been river rafting until last week with Amigos Del Rio. It was a blast. They served breakfast, and lunch when we returned. They paid special attention to safety while making it fun for all!! About halfway down the river, they stopped and we hiked a short distance to a waterfall that was amazing. Our guide was Andres and he was great! I loved the fact that the owner was in a kayak always on guard for potential safety issues! Would definately recommend these guys!!
This was a fantastic introduction to river rafting for our family with teens 11 and 14. From beginning to end there was attention to safety but maximized the fun for everyone. Out in the morning and back from Manuel Antonio for a late lunch. The guide and owner were so friendly and knowledgable about the area and animals. Would do it again in a heartbeat!
Wonderful family experience! We had our 11 yr old with us and it was an experience to remember! Andres, Orlando, Carlos and Humberto all took care of us. Loved that there were always 2 kayakers around us to watch over us. We enjoyed all the knowledge imparted to us about the trees, plants, birds, etc.
We had an amazing rafting experience with Amigos del rio. Everyone was so helpful and friendly from when we first checked in on the drive to the river, and especially while we were on the raft! Ulysses and Moses were informative, had a great sense of humor, and made sure we had a great time. It was our first rafting trip as a family, and we can’t wait to do it again!
Family of four (mom, dad, girls ages 12 and 14) had a blast rafting the Savegre with Amigos del Rio. Dad has been rafting before, but everyone else was a first-timer. They take safety seriously, which allowed mom and dad to relax and enjoy ourselves. They have a professional photographer that rides the rapids in a kayak, taking amazing action shots, and posed shots at the waterfall. We finished with great memories and confidence to raft again in the future. Absolutely would book this again. Thank you Amigos del Rio!!!
Not only was it sooooo fun for our family but the guides were knowledgeable fun and engaging. the waterfall was breathtaking
the rapids were awesome. the best for children to adults 8-71 yr olds.
We did the Río Savegre tour and loved everything about it! The river was beautiful and the guides were knowledgeable about the wildlife and ecology of the region. At our first stop on the way out, we had the best empanadas we’ve ever eaten. My kids were a bit terrified when we first hit the rapids, but our guide, Carlos was great and was able to put them at ease. We made a stop to view a beautiful waterfall and were provided a delicious lunch afterward. Overall we had a blast!
Gracias equipo
